 The semantics could be interpreted as appropriate, though. It says right
 there:
 "The ins tag is used with the del tag to display editorial changes
 involving additions and deletions to the text of a document."

 In our case the document is not the page displayed to the user, but a
 title or some other information about a song or release. It's a structured
 document presented through the web page...

 And what we display are exactly editorial changes: editors suggesting a
 change to the structured document. (That the suggestions may be accepted
 or not is irrelevant to the tags.)
