I never even realized that it did, on the live server.  :P  Anyhow, the ones I've used that I like look and work something like this one: http://zensoftware.org/archives/483 (though I don't know that I like the way that one is implemented in the html, using an option list).  On the other hand, I can't say that I've ever run into any (other) rater where a second click on the same rating cleared the rating.  In my opinion, the separate and different "clear rating" icon is far more useful, visually, than would just be a tooltip; perhaps the cursive-like grey/red "X" icon I'd used in the previous RE UI might suffice?
