Following some leads on persistent local storage possiblities has led me to this small plugin, which looks like it might be really useful, both for dealing with the problem of crash/page reload-recovery (as most browsers don't reload or persist js-populated/changed page or page data), as well as, perhaps, a locally cached version of the stash.  http://code.google.com/p/jquery-jstore/
