Does that mean that the server won't work with Perl 5.8? I was trying to set it
up here at home yesterday, using Perl 5.8.0, with limited success. Am I wasting
my time - should I go back and start again with Perl 5.6.1?
On to the nitty-gritty... so far the main problems that tripped me up have been:
- doesn't work with the latest Mason (at least, not out of the box; I've never
used Mason before, so the fix could be trivial. FYI the error was
handler-dist.pl line 45, apparently the HTML::Mason::Parser module has been
removed in favour of a Compiler and a Lexer.
- doesn't work with Taint mode on (handler-dist.pl line 54, the "chown")
- finally I got as far as getting a sensible-looking response from Mason, and
the response was... an error. From memory (sorry, I didn't write this one down)
htdocs/comp/navbox reported something like "using a hash as a reference is
deprecated".
That last one looked like a Mason-specific error, and like I said I'm new to
Mason, so I'll just have to tinker with it for a while and see what I can make
it do.
Any advice on getting up & running would be appreciated!
Dave
