[mb-devel] .Net work

Hi there all,

First post here, so please excuse me if this type of topic has already
come up (just
checked the last 2 months though, to no avail).

I'm currently working on a .NET assembly that will allow interfacing
with the
MusicBrainz.org XML service. My goals at the moment, are to fulfill the
needs of an
application I am writing at the moment, so I'll start by giving a quick
overview of
my motives of my program...

Basically, I'm a DJ and there's a technique called harmonic mixing, that
can (and
usually does) make mixing sound nicer - but to do it well, you need to
know your
music. My little app makes searching for music, and retrieving matching
songs faster,
by doing the categorising and searching for you - well, leaving me to
search frantically
through my crates! The app is not a media player, or a tagger - so I'm
not going to be
focusing on the audio finger printing side yet (although I do need to be
able to write
information into mp3s like the key and bpm).

Anyhow, I know there are things like Rapid Evolution but nothing seems
to make use of
current systems out there. I really like the Music Brainz initiative, so
it makes sense
to use it!

At the moment, you can search for artists, and have a nice class
returned to you, that
has properties for everything, yadada. I'm working on getting
information on releases in.

If anyone could be kind enough to share a small CVS/SVN repo with me,
I'll happily stick
the code up!

Oh, and my long term goals (sort of alongside this project) - are to
integrate key and bpm
information into the database. What do you think of that?

Keep up the awesome work devers, and hopefully you'll hear more from me!
