There are regular snapshot backups produced. As they are compressed, the
download isn't too bad. In fact for a replicated server, some of them
arn't required.
db snapshots can be found:
ftp://ftp.musicbrainz.org/pub/musicbrainz/data/fullexport/
You should grab the latest and the replication packet processing will then
pull the required data to bring the db in line with the main server.
There are some instructions on the wiki for setting up the server, I think
they are reasonably upto date apart from server requirements.
