I think it's just a peculiarity of MS's CRT. I'm getting all characters OK
if I just ignore the assert.

Silly me! Search depth set to 4 and now I see them. Now all that remains is
to filter and sort the results. Presumably to do this I'm either going to
have to roll my own, or knuckle down and learn about RDF?
