If you are looking for a complete library, the only one in C/C++ I know
about is libmp4v2. If you want to write your own metadata reader (which
isn't that hard as MP4 is a simple format), take a loot at 
http://wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php?title=Apple_QuickTime. There are
also some useful links at the bottom of the page, especially the ISO
14496 specification.
