Well, I don't really understand it, but I look forward to seeing a  
proof of concept. :)

As for MusicBrainz, though, I suspect you've missed the boat. PUIDs  
have taken away much if not all of the pain TRMs were giving, and  
until there's a more compelling reason to switch away from them, I  
don't see why MB would.

That said, I (personally) remain frustrated MusicIP seems unable to  
successfully strip out their PUID generation code into a working  
genpuid wrapper. For projects other than MusicBrainz, your project  
seems like it might be useful, and I like your goal of making such  
technology open source.
