Well, of course. But you have to balance that risk against the facts  
that PUIDs are working just fine right now (assuming MusicIP already  
knows about them), that MB has built up a rather large library of  
PUIDs and a code investment in the technology, and that MusicIP  
donates a non-trivial amount to MB on a recurring basis.
