I have a strong dislike for the current trend of producing such
"bulky" guidelines. Which user wants to read say 5 pages with more or
less the same content, but a different subject? I know I don't. This
is also a symptom of "instruction creepism" (to use a horrible
neologism).
I do not consider this a veto, but I definitely foresee future
questions/criticisms about these SeriesGuidelines. Perhaps from new
users, but surely also from oldies who've been a way from MB/the style
mailinglist for a while and who will want to know what the hell
happened.
There are still tons of series in the database. Imagine for example a
QMagazineSeriesGuideline stating that the titles of all Q Magazine
promotional give-aways should be prefixed by "Q: ", not "Q Magazine: "
and definitely not "Q ".
People will want to give their pet series a similar status as
DMCSeriesStyle, PromoOnlySeriesStyle, HelloProjectSeriesStyle, etc.
This is, and will become, unusable and unmanageable. It might put off
and scare newbies or provide material for mocking our project (:p).
Seriously, our project's image is quite important.
Actually, I feel strongly enough about this to *veto*. This doesn't
automatically extend to all SeriesStyleGuidelines however.
