Maybe a bit on a tangent (again), and maybe its already incorporated in the
"rules"
Just wondering if anyone has looked at the "rules" librarians use for their
music collections.
A.they could become major users and supporters of MB if the system has
advantages for them
B. that profession has been catalogging for ages, and certainly has a viewon
this
C. (European perspecive) many libraries have evolved in "information
centres" including large video and audio collections.
Certainly for classical music there are naming conventions out there, not
necessarily all useful:
e.g. I want to find Ketih Jarrets Goldberg Variations among the many other
performed variations (Glen Gould, etc.), and I would want to find a certain
combination of conductor and Orchestra (e.g. Haitink & the Amsterdam
Concertgebouw Orkest, or Haitink and some other Orchestra, because it makes
a difference)
As said maybe of tangent
Cheers

OK, I was thinking of...
http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/SG5DisasterRelief
which is not a classical style guide, exactly.

Ok, but this is a general behavior, and classical doesn't exactly follow
general rules :-D Actually, in several places, the CSG says the ONLY
possibilities are composer or VA, never performer. So this would be an
exception to the CSG's current rules, and as such should be explicitely
written (in the CSG). Which is why I ask the qsuestion in this group. And if
we are to amend the CSG, while we are at it, we should specify the limits.
