I like the idea of giving examples of where the rule doesn't apply, but I
suggest that Cortot/Thibaud/Casals is not the best example. Here is my
reasoning: those three have played so often together that although they did
not take a name as a group, they could be seen as a group. And if one day
this group is created in MB (which means it will have been voted and
accepted), your example will become wrong. I suggest using an opera (I don't
think anyone will ever suggest creating a group with a singer and a
conductor) or a concerto.

"do not use this style for conductors who are also composers (such as
Leonard Bernstein or Pierre Boulez.)": You mean, when they are conducting
their own works? And shouldn't this include other performers (Glenn Gould)?

For the third rule, Jacques Loussier's Play Bach records could be added as a
more tricky example (since all the works were originally composed by JSB,
this could lead a user into entering it as a JSB release).
