There isn't much info lost. We don't have any system right now for
adding cat#s to boxes, so not doing this will actually loose more
info. We could add the cat#s in the annotation, but that's also lost
information because it's significantly harder to automatically-process
them that way.
On the contrary, if in the future we do get release groups or box sets
(and even now, if someone is interested in finding them), we can
search for CDs that share a Cat#. It'll need human intervention, but
it allows the computer to help.
(BTW, if I'm not in a hurry, I usually note in the annotation which
cat# belongs to what.)
