I guess you would have problems with distinguishing between Danish and
Norwegian, or between various Slavic languages... But with the help of
the attribute ReleaseLanguage, for the purposes of MB, you don't have to.

The new Picard just recently appeared for Debian, so I am happy to
report that the ReleaseCountry appears in the tags encoded according to
ISO-639-1.
The ReleaseLanguage I cannot find.
(And I don't know of any players who are yet able to use information on
country/language. Spontaneously, I don't think this would be a killer
feature :)
