How should we deal with non-original jazz recordings?
http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/WhatIsACover does not state that clearly.
Here are other examples of the open problems:
If Chet Baker performs "Visa" (originally by Charlie Parker), is he making a
cover of the very first Visa?
When Charlie Parker performs Visa in a different way in another album, is he
covering the first Visa?
If Francesco Bianconi, member of Baustelle, writes the song "Bruci la città"
for Irene Grandi, she performs that songs, and one year later Baustelle
performs that song, are Baustelle making a cover of the "Bruci la città"
published earlier by Irene Grandi? (This happens quite often in Italy.)
If someone takes a traditional song, available in hundreds of versions, and
makes it famous, to whom should be attributed the later covers of that
song?
Francesco Guccini released a song called "In morte di S. F.". For various
reasons, later reprints of the album call that song "Canzone per un'amica".
Is that a cover? Abviously not. But what is it?
