I haven't been as involved in mb-style in recent months due to some
other things stealing my time. So, my apologies for giving feedback
this late.
Under the "Guidelines" heading you mention:
Compilations and soundtracks cannot be supporting releases,
though they can be supported by another release.
Why not?
This is a compilation released in support of a new album:

I don't have an example for soundtracks, and agree that would be
unlikely, but I see no reason to specifically exclude them in the
guideline. If they don't exist no one will try to add them as such.
