[mb-style] policy on merging of recordings

for popular music it is not very common that there is a high amount of
different recordings for one work, however right now there is an insane
amount of recordings present in the database. e.g. i was looking right now
into some novelty song from 1958 [1] which has about 50 recordings present
on 60 different releases. i can't imagine that there are more than a few
different recordings for this work. so is merging recodings together based
on playtime a valid approach? of course such edits are highly questionable
since tracklength is an indication, but no proof whatsoever; however
having 50+ recordings seems wrong to me too.
