whatever :-)
just a litte note concerning what the initial effort to test out the
usefulness of forums would be: remember when lukas installed trac, and
we said that we'll play around with it a bit *then* decide if we are
gonna keep it. Inside, we knew that there wouldn't be much
decision-making to be done after the initial phase, but a transition
into an operation phase (at least i hoped, and did). With that in
mind, i'd recommend to start slow (e.g. no musicbrainz template, no
user integration (but soft rules to use the same nick like on the main
site, such that we could have a seamless transition to a integrated
solution))
but i have a feeling that the forums will be embraced very much like
trac. the good thing about them is, that you do not have to make
*strict* rules beforehand which thread should go into which forum,
this should be the job of the forum moderators, to get a feeling what
type of discussions are taking place, and to move the threads
accordingly. No objection to a initial set of rules, e.g. follow code
of conduct, think about usefulness of a post before posting, think
into which forum the post would fit, etc. Therefore, since lots of
thought has put into the separation of the mailing lists, i'd
recommend we start with a similar set of forums.
For the help and howto forums, there should be sticky threads which
point to the respective
