I think this is a fabulous idea.

I was thinking earlier today, that one of the advantages of releasing
actual software, is that people can try it and if it really is broken
for them (hey, stuff happens), they can downgrade, and that's really a
problem with a web application, and that's a very frustrating
experience from an end-user perspective.

This is a way to sidestep that issue, provide much more real world
testing still in a controlled basis.
