[mb-users] A ML... and a forum!?

There's a lot to reply to, so I will just write one mail.

I can agree that the scope of [mb-users] is perfect for the forum
format. However, I cannot see myself participating in a style
discussion on a forum, what with the colourful avatars, bulky
signatures, "me too"-comments, etc. It has been argumented in this
thread that style-related discussions have been popping up anyway, but
that is only because a "Style Discussion" forum has been added.

The way I saw these forums was an experiment as to which kind of
discussions would pop up there. Having several detailed categories and
no unified login defeated its purpose. Only motivated list-users
created accounts there, so in the end the same kind of discussions
were had, but only by *a certain subset* of the list-users.

To this purpose a topic for each relevant surviving list (all but
users IMO) could be added to the forum, as Andrew Conkling said:

Even a prominent link to, for example, [mb-style] in a "sticky" thread
might work.

On the discussion of rehauling the RFC/RFV process, I think it is
*crazy* to hold that discussion on another medium than the one the
process has been going on on for years! Similar discussions have, with
success, been held here before.

And to pick up a point I mentioned before: I cannot support putting
any list to sleep before each user with a MB account can go to and
post in the forums without going through a registration process. If
you see the lists as too high a barrier for new users, how
user-friendly is that?

P.S.: I hope the manual quotes worked out.
