Well, yes and no. Of course, it is better if the editor knows what he
is doing. The problem is that he is not always. I do know classical
music; but if I entered a release from Purcell, I wouldn't know how to
correct anything to what is written on the sleeve (except from
following the obvious CSG rules), because I am not a Purcell
specialist. So I must accept (and even hope for) a knowledgeable user
to come and correct my edit.
Even more, some users who enter classical releases know almost nothing
about classical. They just happened to have a cd which they liked
(yes, this happens ;-) ) and so they decided to enter it just like
they entered their other non-clasical cds. Why would we prevent them
from entering it? How could we, anyhow? There is no special MB login
that only classical knowing users can use.
Knowledge is recommended, but can not be required.
