I always thought that all cds don't have to be digitally mastered. AFAIK
digital mastering is supposed to be what explains the difference between AAD
and ADD (although I have at least one CD marked AAD and "digitally
remastered and remixed" :-/) I imagine there was a time when digital
mastering was probably more expensive and there were far less people trained
in how to do it than analogical, but now I suspect the reverse is true.
