I don't know if my situation is in the same lines but subscribed to the 
autoedit list today when I saw this thread. I was of the opinion that a 
new autoeditor automagically became a member of the autoeditor mailing 
list, or at least gained post rights. I completely forgot about the list 
since my election. Like Andrew I'm unable to post to the list. I did, 
however, replied on the automated response to the list owner.
