Hi!

These types of questions would best be handled in the mb-devel  
mailing list. There are not that many dev oriented folks here.

Hmmm. I wonder if its finding the wrong version of mod_perl sources  
installed. Which mod_perl packages are installed on that VM?

I personally have not used the VMWare installation -- I always have  
custom setups on all my machines. Do you mind me asking what you're  
going to use this install for? If you're going to be making serious  
amounts of queries, then you should consider installing mb_server  
natively to get better performance.
