[mb-users] Singer/songwriter covering their own songs?

Greetings all!

A singer/songwriter composes a song for another artist, which that
other artist records and releases. Later, the singer/songwriter
records and releases that same song him/herself. Is this version to be
considered a cover of the first release?

I think this is a pretty common situation. I'm facing it right now
with Guang Liang
(http://musicbrainz.org/artist/1b89c374-e0f1-4aa1-9f08-d56cfdd644f6.html)
who has re-recorded some of his own songs in this manner.

Should "is a cover of" AR be entered for such tracks? It doesn't fit
very well what might generally be considered a cover.
