My *big* problem with this is that Firefox on Mac OS-X (at least for
me) does not tab to drop-down lists.  Every time I wanted to search
I'd have to dig out my mouse and use it to select the search.  If that
is how it will work, I'd prefer the separate search fields by a long
shot.
