use of additional + guest would be when you get credits like:
"piano performed by [member of band]" and
"additional piano by [non-member of band]"

guest = anyone not considered a member of the band (at that time)
additional = any non-primary instance of that role (excludes things
like 'backing vocals' since a 'primary' role exists for them).

the reason no-one uses the performed by ARs (and ARs in general) is
that it's only recently that there's been the ability to bulk-add ARs.
it's only been slightly before that that we've been able to see
track-level ARs at the release level, and hell, ARs as a thing are
still relatively new for musicbrainz. also, it's a nightmare to get
new ARs added to the list, and i've found that every other release i
try to enter has a new AR required, which normally makes me give up
rather than start that process again...

it's only with the last server update i have the ability to properly
AR up most of the releases i own (bulking functionality), and as yet i
don't have the motivation to spend the many 100s of hours that would
take. i do however try and do it for my new additions, but again it
depends on my time available.
