Agreed. I am probably biased to think it's inexperienced voters because of 
http://musicbrainz.org/show/edit/?editid=8355054
(for which I feel I did provide adequate evidence).

I should have said "It often seems to be inexperienced voters who cast the 
last-minute 'no's with no edit note". As has been pointed out, even a note 
after the edit has failed would be preferable to no note at all.

I agree that having an extension of time after the first no-vote would be 
helpful.
