[mb-users] Sortingorder Dutch tussenvoegsel

Reading through the discussion I think I didn't make a things very clear
in the first place. (my fault!)

It is not the sortingorder I am complaining about, it's not the way
names are sorted (that okay, they are sorted the right way) It's the way
we had to write down the sortingorder, for the database. I want a
database that understands there is no difference between:

1 - Boudewijn de Groot
2 - Groot, Boudewijn de
3 - Groot, de, Boudwijn

being:
1: The displayname
2: The way names are sorted in phonebooks and we are familiar with in
Holland
3: The way we had to enter names in a (for instance Musicbrainz)
database so that the database can sort the names in a right order.

I am very well aware that it seems absolutely no problem to create such
a system but because there are a lot of exceptions in the Dutch language
it's almost impossible to make it 100% proof. And then we come to a
point where we had to help the database with three columns. And I have
ABSOLUTELY no problems with the proposed one. It is just the way I read
it, "Groot, de, Boudewijn" looks very strange to me. But on the other
hand, what am I complaining about, I will start changing all the Dutch
names with a not consistent sortname to "Last name, tussenvoegsel, First
name"

Consistency is very important in a Database, and I will cancel the Freek
de Jonge edit.

Perhaps it is also better to put a text in the wiki (that's where it all
started) that: "Last name, tussenvoegsel, First name" leads to the same
result as "Last name, First name tussenvoegsel" and that we have to do
with a sortingmachine working this out the right way. It helps against
stupid guys like me ;-)

Thanks,

Fred.
