Actually we *should* cache the user-portion of the rank because it  
represents the amount of experience he/she had when the edit was made.  
Just calculate a one-time value when the edit is created and leave it  
that, shouldn't be too costly.

That's always a problem, and something experienced editors need to work  
on. Maybe new users should have a little flower next to their name  
denoting that we should be nice to them? :)
