-Don't force anyone to add these ARs to all covers/versions/releases of
a song
-Don't prohibit anyone to add valid information to any instance of a
song

The downsides were:
-We get a little inconsistency (some versions of a song do have
composer credits, others do not)
-As we have multiple versions of the same credits maintenance is harder
(if some AR turns out to be wrong, we have to change multiple instances
of the same AR)

But, as for the first downside, it is too much work to force anyone to
add AR's to each occurrence of a particular song, though we would like
to have that of course. For the second, it is a problem, but if we also
add cover/later version/later release AR's, the others will be easy to
find.

Moreover, this will only really get fixed when we have "track masters"
or "works" or whatever it is going to be called in NGS. To get to NGS
we have to start merging these tracks (which has been rumored to exist
already in the test server) and track merging is easier when we have
these AR's on each track.

So, please vote yes to these edits next time.
type="cite">Ok, now at least I understand your objection. But I don't
agree. If someone wants to see the composer AR on a particular cover,
it is his problem, not yours, as long as he doesn't ask you to enter
all the composer ARs for the other covers! Anyhow, it probably won't
matter when Works are implemented since it is Works which will be
composer ARed.
My objection is that - although perhaps not in this particular case -
the
idea of adding individual composer ARs to every cover version can easily
become a chore. eg:

Mind you, a quick search shows some 300 tracks called "You Really Got a
Hold
On Me"... so someone's got a bit of work ahead of them :)
