Hey, folks. Just wanted to let you know about a fun film screening event
we are doing in Second Life: http://openvision.tv/blog/?p=111

What does this have to do with XSPF? Well, if you come by our virtual
pad, you'll notice a number of musician posters on the wall. Clicking on
any of these will trigger a call to the old-fashioned radio in the room
that is actually a XSPF music player under the covers.

You can load *any* XSPF playlist into the player by just saying (aka
typing into Second Life chat window): "xspf <your url>"
or, for example: "xspf
http://webjay.org/by/chromegat/theafricansoundsproject.xspf" will load a
playlist from webjay.

You can jump around tracks by saying "track <track #>" and open the
tracks info link by saying "info <track #>".
(We decided to make it a "voice" based interface as opposed to a visual
dialog as that seemed the most Star Trek-way to do it.)

Finally, we can have it display the album art, as well, but right now,
since we are screening the film in the same parcel, we've disabled it.
We are still in an experimental "labs" phase with this, but we will most
likely open-source this code at some point. Right now the "radio" is
free to be copied, but you won't have access to modify the object or
code (err, I think).

All the SL coordinates are available through the post here:

You can find me in SL as Nat Mandelbrot if you'd like to talk more
and/or of course here on this list!
