Hi David -
We must be tuning into some similar deep space frequencies... just last
week I started preparing for the development of a few OPML files
pointing to all the stations and artist pages with streaming, including
streams by genre, charts, etc. on ArtistServer.com.
My initial target use, is for a station plugin for the SlimServer -
which is a local streaming server for use with Slim Devices "Squeezebox"
products. Slim D. was consumed by Logitech earlier this year.
The particular plugin I'm referring to:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?WikiRadio - allows users of the
Slim Server to access your streams from either a Squeezebox hooked up to
your stereo, or from a software player meant to emulate the hardware unit.
If you click on a few of the OPML links on the left of the page, you'll
get a better idea on how to set things up - for example, the OPML for
hypemachine contains one item - which is a pointer to an XML file on
their server - this way they can generate the actual OPML on their site
dynamically.
I'm sure there will be other uses once the files are out there :)
BTW - I've had a Squeezebox for a few years now, and all I have are good
things to say about the product and company. If anyone is looking for
pure freedom with their mp3 collection, the Squeezebox is a great solution.
