[Playlist] the Genre tag on id3 mp3 tracks.

Im developing a feature and to take in one step further im looking to  
understand the <Genre> tag better. when i look at an unsorted array  
of tracks they all use different formats for this tag. some using  
numerical valiues such as <Genre>(12)</Genre> others <Genre>pop</ 
Genre>. In trying to make some sense of this im looking for a simple  
chart that explains that 12 = pop, 13= soul, etc.

is there a standard for this or am i missing something rather obvious?
