I know there already is one - I thought we are talking
about the state of this very schema file.

The question is whether it can be fixed or not,
whether XSD can express what we have to express.
I could also imagine "unrolling" all cases could
result in several thousand cases and I doubt
you want to work with a 10MB schema file.
So more research is needed first.

Btw why don't you use the Relax NG schema instead?
It seems like that one is fixable.
