The reason to make the page a wiki is to allow third parties,
especially software developers, to maintain it.  The reason to do that
on Wikipedia is to take advantage of their excellent wiki
infrastructure.

That said, my interest is in not owning this page any more.  I do not
want to be the maintainer of the applications page.  Will somebody
step up and take it over?
