It's licensed under LGPLv3 already (as well as all prior versions). All 
you'd do is limit its license to a specific version. After that, you 
could not incorporate code that is licensed with any specific version 
of the LGPL != 3.0. But you could not do that right now, anyway.

My point is: Go with B, there's no need for a fork.
